Selma “Sally” Haddad, 89, of Concord, NH, passed away surrounded by family on April 22, 2017.
She was born Selma Koury on November 11, 1927 to John Koury and Rose Simon Koury in Lawrence, MA. Sally graduated in 1945 from Lawrence High School, where she was an excellent student. She then embarked on her career as a bookkeeper and secretary. In 1950, she married Kenneth Haddad, who predeceased her in 1988. They lived in Methuen, MA where they raised their two daughters. Sally moved to Concord, NH in 1997 with her sister, Anne, who predeceased her in 2005. Sally resided at Harris Hill Center in Concord, NH from 2012 until her death.
Sally was a wonderful cook, an avid reader, and an ardent fan of all Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox. She had a keen interest in politics and a love of vintage films and jazz music. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Hage and husband, Jamie N. Hage of Concord, NH and Dr. Carol Haddad Kelly and husband, Dr. Thomas Kelly of Londonderry, NH. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cory Hage Mefford and husband Cread Mefford of Seattle, WA, Andrew Hage of Chicago, IL, Emily Hage of Cambridge, MA, and Laura Kelly, of Londonderry, NH. She is also survived by her sister Georgette Abdulla of Methuen, MA and brother George Koury and his wife, June Koury of Westwood, NJ; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family wishes to thank the nurses, staff, and administration at Harris Hill Center for their loving, compassionate, and attentive care for Sally and their many kindnesses to the family. They provided a second family for her that she loved dearly.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours on Tuesday, April 25 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen, MA. A memorial service to celebrate Sally’s life will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 26 at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Sally’s name to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurses Association, 30 Pillsbury St., Concord, NH 03301-3502.
