Frances Garofalo, 83, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2017. Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of Edward and Alice (LaRivee) Hewitt.
Frances graduated from Lawrence High School in 1952. Following graduation, she was employed as a dental assistant and later by Methuen Public Schools as a teacher’s aide for several years. She enjoyed writing children’s stories and was once published in the Catholic Digest.
Frances is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Vincent Garofalo, Sr. of Englewood, FL and Winnisquam, NH; children, Alice (Garofalo) Hyatt, Ross Garofalo and his wife Paricia, Vincent Garofalo, Jr. and his wife Dawna; grandchildren, Marisa (Carney) Delhay and her husband Evan, Lisa (Carney) Koehler and her husband AJ, Annie Jane, and Sophia Garofalo; great-grandchildren, Owen and Liam Delhay, and Norah Koehler; sister, Rita Hewitt; brothers, Michael Hewitt and his wife Rita, and Patrick Hewitt.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward, William, and Thomas Hewitt; and sister, Theresa (Hewitt) Curtin.
Frances was beloved by all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visiting period from 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence.
