Denis W. Beland, 67, of Lawrence passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Lawrence General Hospital. He was born in Lawrence and was the son of the late Herve and Lilian (Stokes) Beland.
Denis was raised and educated in Lawrence and Methuen. He retired as a millwright for Crown, Cork & Seal after thirty-seven years. He was a past president, shop steward, secretary, and treasurer for the IAMA Union.
Denis is survived by his beloved wife, Louise Celia Beland; children: Denis Beland, Derek Beland of Tulsa, OK, and Tricia Gately and her husband Richard of Somerville; step-children: R. Michael Gagne of Myrtle Beach, SC and Daniel Gagne of NC; brother, Robert “Chummy” Beland and his wife Christine of Haverhill; sisters: Barbara Beland of Lawrence, Carol Beland Couture of Methuen, and Teresa Guiffre of Lawrence; grandchildren: Kevin Myers, Angel Marr, Charlie Gately, Hazel Gately, Loren Rosnick Mello, Ari Rosnick Mello, and Tasha Parkhurst; daughter-in-law, Marie Marr and her husband Andrew Wysocki; other family members: Karen Mello, MD, Shelly Mello Jackson, Michell Rosneck, Robert and Joanne Lacasse, and Russ and Pat Bourassa. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Monday, October 30, 2017 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation made in Denis' name to Dana Farber c/o Dr. Khouri's office, 25 Marston St., Lawrence, MA to support gastric cancer research.
