Custode Delmonte

Custode Delmonte, 96, of Methuen passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Methuen surrounded by his loving family. Custode was born in Tusa, Italy and was the son of the late Giovanni Delmonte and Anna (Turdo) Delmonte. He was the widower of Angela (Fazio) Delmonte, with whom he spent 66 years of marriage before her passing in 2016.
 
Custode was a farmer by trade in Italy when he came to this country in 1974. He remained here for twelve years before he retired and then moved back to Italy to continue his love for farming. Once again, he returned to America at the age 80. He worked as a packer for the former Prince Macaroni Co. in Lowell for ten years before he retired. He was dedicated to his family and he enjoyed working over the years.
 
He is survived by his sons, John Delmonte and his wife Rosa of Methuen and Gioacchino Delmonte of North Andover; six grandchildren, Angela, John, Salvatore, Christopher, Mark, and Robert Delmonte; and three great-grandchildren, Rhianna, Alessandra, and Avery Delmonte. He also leaves his brother, Rosario Delmonte and his sister, Rosaria Delmonte, both of Italy. He was predeceased by his sister, Immacolata Delmonte.
 
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 10 am at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex St., Lawrence. Entombment will follow his services at St. Mary’s Mausoleum, 6 Woodland St., Methuen,
