George G. Peluso, 89 of Haverhill, passed away August 27, 2017 at Wingate at Haverhill after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
The son of Gaetano and Angelina (Vitale) Peluso, he was born, raised, and educated in Lawrence.
George served in the Navy, during World War II, where in addition to his naval service he served as the ship’s barber. Upon his return from service, rather than join his father and brothers in the family barber shop, George worked for Tyer Rubber (Converse) where he was a member of both the company’s softball and bowling teams. Years later, he joined the Construction Labor’s Union Local 175 where he continued to maintain his union membership after retirement.
George was a member of St. Joseph’s Bowling league, an avid baseball and football fan and enjoyed spending time at Rockingham Park Race Track. He cherished time spent with his family, trips with his wife Theresa to Foxwood and Atlantic City, and traditional Sunday family dinners.
George was predeceased by siblings, Peter and Mario Peluso, Josephine Silva, and Jennie Tripoli.
George is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Theresa A. (Fazio) Peluso; sons, George, David and his wife Linda; daughter, Darlene and her husband Russell Samia; grandchildren, Nicholas Samia and his wife Cori, Alison Samia, Rocco, Bryson, and Sam Peluso; great-grandchildren, Christopher Samia and Carson Peluso; sister-in-law, Anna Fazio; brother-in-law, Horace Fazio; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the Wingate staff for their care and concern for George while he was a resident.
