Amerigo Cozzone, 92, of Lawrence passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill. He was born in Italy where he was raised and educated. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Italian Navy and served for ten years.
After his service he came to Lawrence and worked as a presser for Grieco Brothers. He loved his Italian culture and taught the language to many throughout the Merrimack Valley area. He was a member of the Sons of Italy, loved to play soccer and also was a referee at soccer games.
Mr. Cozzone was predeceased by his beloved wife, Catherine (Costanzo) Cozzone.
He is survived by his sons, Anthony Cozzone of Lowell and Robert Cozzone of Lawrence; daughters, Annemarie Martin and her husband Alan of Melrose and Patricia Cozzone of Lawrence, and his grandchildren, Nicholas and Erica Martin and Angela Cozzone. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex St. Lawrence. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence. By the request of the family there will be no visiting hours and family and friends are requested to meet at the church Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9 Lawrence, MA 01843.
