William J. York

William J. “Bill” York, 89, of Bradford, MA, formerly of Salem, NH, passed away peacefully Monday, March 12, 2018 at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Lawrence, he was the son of the late George and Catherine (Lavin) York. Bill was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, class of 1947.

A Korean War veteran, Bill proudly served in the Army while being stationed in Germany.

Bill worked for over thirty years at Western Electric/AT&T/ Lucent Technologies and selflessly provided for his family. As a man of great faith, a devout Catholic, Bill attended church regularly, most recently at St. Lucy’s Parish.

Bill was a die-hard Red Sox fan and enjoyed baseball, especially during his youth when taking the mound for Central Catholic and the City League Team Andover. While he had many great baseball memories, his most treasured moments were times spent with his family. Nothing brought Bill greater joy than the family being together.

William is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Laura M. (Miele) York; his treasured children, Kathi Mailloux and her husband, Ron of Bradford, Karyn Smith and her husband, Frank of Bradford, Susan Sarkisian and her husband, David of Methuen, Sheryl York of North Andover; his cherished grandchildren, R. J. and Rachael Mailloux, Bryttany, Bryanna, Colton and Sydney Smith; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Holy Family Hospital and High Pointe Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Bill and to his family.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex St., Lawrence. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
