William Anthony Lumsden, affectionally known as “Little Willie” to his family. He was born on Tuesday, September 2, 1980, to his parents William Lumsden and Thelma Jones Gates (Charles). His paternal grandmother was the late Mrs. Mildred Lumsden and maternal grandparents, the late Deacon William Henry and Mary Eva Hall Jones. William transitioned into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at 7:30 pm at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA after a brief illness from COVID-19.
Educated in Lawrence Public Schools, Willie was a 1998 graduate of Lawrence High. He attended Mt. Ida College in Newton, MA for a year and earned an Associate’s Degree from ITT Technical Institute. He was employed as an assembler/tester at Abiomed Corp. in Danvers, MA. He was a member of Third Baptist Church, Lawrence, MA.
Willie had a sense of humor and everyone he met he called a friend, had a generous spirit and loved people. Willie was an avid sports fan especially football and basketball and attending his sons sporting events.
In addition to his parents, Willie also leaves the following people to cherish precious memories: his greatest accomplishments, his two sons, Mekhi and Myles Lumsden of Methuen, MA, and Cherena Kitchen, the love of his life and the mother of his children; two sisters: Elaine Lumsden of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Yvonne Lumsden of Manchester, England; two brothers: Clarence Calvin of MA and Brian Jones (Marrenda) of Pottstown, MA. He also leaves his Godparents, Mr. Joseph D. Felton and the late Clementine Felton; and a plethora of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
William Anthony Lumsden will be missed by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation on Friday, January 21, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A funeral service will be celebrated at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, January 22, 2022. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
