William D. Folk, Sr.

William D. Folk, Sr., 92, of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2021, at his residence. Born on January 16, 1929, he was the son of the late Ernest and Hettie (West) Folk.

Bill “Grampy” Folk was born and raised in Baxter Springs, KS. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. After his education in KS, Bill enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country. Following his honorable discharge, he settled down in Methuen, MA, where he started his family and went on to work 20+ years for Honeywell as a mechanical assembler.

In his free time, Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Family was most important, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, of whom he was so grateful. Always present for family, he enjoyed watching them play sports and activities.

As an avid gardener, Bill was proud of his reputation of growing the best tomatoes. He also had a passion for competition, where he dominated the Merriline Horseshoe League since inception, for 50+ years!

William will be deeply missed and is survived by his children, Robert Oreal and his wife Nancy of Salisbury, MA, William Folk, Jr. and his wife Sheryl of Haverhill, MA, and Darlene Donahue and her husband Thomas of Methuen; his grandchildren, Robbie, Pamela, Tommy, James, Billy, Kevin; his great-grandchildren, Rileigh, Brady, Ava, Gracie, Madlyn, Jack, Izabella, Ethan, Alysen, Liam, Lydia, Maddox, Maxwell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, William is pre-deceased by his brother, Charlie Folk; his sisters, Noreen Blackledge, Lawanda “Fay” Shrum, and Patricia Nading.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, July 29, 2021, from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A service will follow at 12:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, 130 North Lowell Street, Methuen.
