William Michael Manzi Boda

May 11, 1964 ~ October 12, 2017 (age 53) 53 Years Old
William Michael Manzi Boda, 53, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 at his home in Boca Raton, FL. Born in Lawrence to John “Spike” and Angela Boda, Billy lived in the Merrimack Valley until two years ago when he moved to Florida with his partner, Darlene Donovan. Billy was very proud of his daughter, Kaleena Boda, and she of him. Their love, and support for each other was immeasurable, their bond unbreakable, their spirits were one, their lives blessed to have had each other. He was her warrior, and she was his life.

Growing up in a golf family, Billy had a natural talent for the game. He didn’t need to practice or even play for months at a time. When he was called to the tee, he’d take that first swing like he played seven days a week. One of his proudest accomplishments was winning the Merrimack Valley 1977 Rodger’s Jr. Golf Championship; a proud moment for Spike and Angela as well.

Billy was a proud democrat, sports fan, loved all types of music, and enjoyed going to concerts with his daughter. He enjoyed people, a good debate, sharing stories, and laughing ~ he loved to laugh. His greatest asset was his big heart. He was kind, genuinely cared about others, and would do anything to help anyone he could, even strangers. If there was a remote chance that he could better someone’s day or life, he would try and do all he could to make it happen. His selflessness was recognized, and admired by all. He had many passions, but the one that gave him the biggest sense of fulfillment was reaching out to help people struggling with addiction and recovery. Billy had a personal connection with the Link House in Newburyport, and when able, he became an advocate in meetings, and a sponsor. He felt grateful to have had the opportunity to help others struggling to stay on track.

Billy has gone to join his father, Spike, Grampy and Nana, Nonno and Nana, Auntie Bette, and Auntie Tania. He leaves behind his daughter, Kaleena Boda and her partner, Christian Schubert; ex-wife, Debbie Boda; partner, Darlene Donovan; mother, Angela Boda; brother, John “Brad” Boda and his wife, Karyn; sister, Lynn Boda-Menery and her husband, Michael; nephew, Ryan Boda; and the many friends impacted by his generous heart.

There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held at Holy Rosary Church on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 10:00 am. Billy will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery, and a celebration of life will immediately follow. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Link House, http://linkhouseinc.org/giving.
