Wanda M. Skandier

Wanda M. (Salem) Skandier, 93, a lifelong resident of Lawrence, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 13, 1926 to the late Sadie and Mansour Salem.

Raised in Lawrence, Wanda was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She was a stay-at-home mom and spent most of her time taking care of her children and later in life retired from the IRS. Wanda enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, most especially her husband, John, who was the center of her universe.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of sixty-seven years, John F. Skandier; her son, Edward Skandier; and siblings, Peter, Edward, Betty, Nellie, and Norman.

Wanda is survived by her children, Carol McQuaid and her husband, Daniel of North Andover, John P. Skandier and his fiancé, Mary O’Brien of Worcester, Mary Joaquin of Methuen, Sandra and Renda Skandier, both of Lawrence. She was adored by her grandchildren, Jill, Kara, Kristen, Michael, Mark, Brian and Cori; and five great-grandchildren. In addition, she leaves daughter-in-law, Linda Skandier Sickorez; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, February 10, 2020, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. Her funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at St. Anthony Maronite Church, 145 Amesbury Street in Lawrence. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Methuen. In lier of flowers, donations in Wanda's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
