Vivian K. (Kamal) Runions, 98, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, formerly of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2020, in South Carolina where she had resided for the last year and a half.
The eldest of four children, Vivian was born on April 12, 1922, in Methuen and lived on the same block for ninety-six years, except for two and a half years spent in Washington, DC during World War II while working for the Army Corps of Engineers. She met her future husband, Howard, when she was working in DC, and with whom she happily shared fifty-seven years of marriage until his passing in 2001. Vivian returned to Massachusetts, where she worked at Western Electric and spent thirty-five years at the IRS. Retiring at the age of sixty-two, she found time to travel with her husband to places they always dreamed of. She also enjoyed working on her garden and reading.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Joe Kamal, Albert Kamal, and Georgette Halaby.
Vivian is survived by her children, James Runions and his wife, Kim of South Carolina, Sally Patane and her husband, Al of South Carolina, and Wayne Runions of Cape Coral, FL; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to visit with her family between 10:00-12:00 PM, Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in United Lebanese Cemetery in Lawrence.
