Theresa (Adamo) Skorupka, age 100, of Methuen and formerly of Lawrence, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021 in the comfort of her home. She was the wife of Chester J. Skorupka for 52 years until his passing in 1998.
Born, raised and educated in Lawrence, the daughter of the late Ferdinando and Antoinetta (Ferrera) Adamo, Theresa was a 1939 graduate of Lawrence High School.
Theresa enlisted in the United State Navy in July 1943 and proudly served her country. She did her basic training at Hunter College in New York where she also earned the Red Cross Intermediate Life Saver designation. She was assigned to the Bureau of Naval Personnel in Washington DC where she was a message coder and worked in Naval court cases involving officers. She served for the duration of the war and left the Navy in January 1946.
When she returned home, she worked as seamstress for Grieco Brothers in Lawrence for 26 years before her retirement.
In addition to her husband, Theresa was predeceased by her two sons, Robert Skorupka and William Skorupka, and two sisters Angelina Rizzio and Amelia DeSantis.
She is survived by her sister, Genevieve Scuncio, daughter-in-law Susan Davenport and her husband Doug, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation on Saturday, January 8, 2022 between 9:00 and 10:00 AM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen, MA. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in St. Mary – Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence, MA
