Thadeus “Ted” Makarewicz, 86, of Salisbury, MA left peacefully to go to his eternal home to meet the Lord on September 29, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. His passing came one week shy of his 87th birthday.
Ted was born in Lowell on October 6,1931 to the late William and Joanna (Deputat) Makarewicz. He graduated from Lawrence High School, Class of 1949, and received his Associates Degree in Engineering from Lowell Tech and his Bachelor of Science Degree from Northeastern University. As a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Ted served in the Korean War attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Ted was employed at Avco Research in Wilmington as a senior engineer. He retired from Raytheon in Andover as Manager of Mechanical Components. Ted built his own home and boat. He loved fishing, hunting, and gardening. He has been a mentor to many of his relatives and friends, offering advice on careers, building, and personal improvement, for which people have expressed much gratitude. Above all, Ted was a wonderful family man who loved being “Papa.”
He is survived by his wife and soul mate, Frieda (Nicosia) Makarewicz of Salisbury and his son, Mark Makarewicz and his wife, Joan E. ( Pomerleau) of Dracut. Also among his survivors are his grandchildren, Melissa Sue Makarewicz of Dracut, Mark Makarewicz, Jr. and his wife, Sarah (Vance) Makarewicz of Litchfield, NH, and Nicholas Makarewicz of Dracut; great-grandchildren, Sadie Elizabeth Makarewicz and Owen John Makarewicz of Litchfield, NH. Ted is also survived by his sister, Shirley Kirk; his sister-in-law, Rose Grasso of Salisbury; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Genevieve Buia and his brother, Henry Makarewicz.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral mass will be offered on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Holy Rosary Church at Corpus Christi Parish, 35 Essex Street, Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, 155 Boston Road, Lowell, MA.
