Stacia H Sledz

Stacia H. (Hankey) Sledz, 104, of Lakewood Ranch, Fl, formerly from Windham, NH, Tewksbury, MA and Cambridge, MA passed away peacefully on September 28, 2021.

She was born in Lawrence, MA on March 2, 1917 and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Julia (Peterof) Hankey.  Stacia was educated in the Boston Public School system, graduated from Washington Intermediate School in 1932, and from Girls High School in 1935.

She was employed by B. F. Goodrich of Watertown, MA as a factory worker and a clerical retiree of The New England Telephone Company.

Stacia loved to travel and was able to see many places of which California and Hawaii were her favorites.  She enjoyed old movies, especially from the 1940s and 50s, old television shows,  loved Perry Mason, Bonanza and The Golden Girls.  She liked crossword puzzles, and always trying to pick the lottery numbers to keep her mind sharp. Stacia loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was always interested in what they were up to.

Preceded her in death, was her husband, Stanley Sledz; son, John Sledz, brother, Edward Hankus, and her sister, Helen London.

Surviving family members are her son Henry Sledz and his wife Ann of Lakewood Ranch FL; grandsons, Steven Sledz and wife Jennifer of Windsor, CO and David Sledz and wife Donna of Orlando, FL; great-grandsons Tyler Sledz and Conner Sledz of Windsor, CO and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Monday, October 11, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St. Methuen.  Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at St. Lucy’s Church, 254 Merrimack St., Methuen.  Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Boston, MA.
