Sebastian J. Pittera

Sebastian John “Busty” Pittera, 90, of Bradford, NH passed away peacefully on July 7, 2019. Born in Lawrence, MA to Santo and Rosaria Pittera, Busty was the eldest of four.

He attended Lawrence High and later served in the US Navy from 1945 to 1949. In 1950, he wed the love of his life, Lucy, and they spent almost seventy years together. The couple settled in Methuen, growing their family, later building a summer home in Bradford, NH, and retiring to Fort Pierce, FL in the winters.  

Busty attended East Coast Aero Tech in the 1950s and later started the family business, Town and Country Seat Covers, in Lawrence, which he gave to his sons upon his retirement. In more recent years Busty enjoyed growing expansive vegetable gardens, puttering in his workshop, and passionately playing 45s with friends and family.

Busty will be forever loved and missed by his wife, Lucy; daughter, Karen Bluemel of Atkinson, NH; son, John Pittera and his wife, Laurel of Salem, NH; son, Michael Pittera of Atkinson, NH; grandchildren, Lacey Bluemel and her husband, Jeff Maxwell of Falmouth, MA, Chad Pittera of Methuen, MA, Alex Pittera of Nashua, NH, Alyssa Pittera of Northwood, NH, and Brett Pittera of Salem, NH; as well as great-grandchildren, Hailey, Isabelle, and Colby Pittera; sister-in-law, Mary Wood and her partner, Warren Hayward of Lowell, MA; sister, Rose and her husband, Joe Caruso, and brother, Charles Pittera and his wife, Kathy of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. Busty was predeceased by his sister, Sarah Offi of New Jersey.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at a later date in the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
