Santo A. “Sonny” DiMauro, of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2021, at the age of 88. Born in Lawrence and long-time resident of Methuen, MA and Hallandale Beach, FL, he was the son of the late Maurice and Antonia “Lena” (Giuffrida) DiMauro. After graduating from Lawrence High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and later continued his education studying business at Suffolk University in Boston, MA.

In his varied professional career, Sonny was employed by Raytheon Corporation, Electrolux and held several sales positions including the Diamond Wholesale District in New York City, the Jeweler’s Building in Boston as well as selling Oriental and Persian rugs at Raymond’s Department Store also in Boston. He later ran a newspaper distribution of racing forms at the Rockingham Park Racetrack, Salem, NH as well as Hialeah, Calder, and Gulfstream racetracks of South Florida.

Sonny’s interest and passions include the arts, entertainment, music, and extensive traveling. He had a great sense of humor. He was known to family and friends as a “HUMAN GPS.” He guided many people on their travel adventures across the United States and internationally. Well versed in many languages, he was always in search of cultural experiences.

Sonny made many trips over the past three decades to visit his only son in New York City. They shared an extremely close bond and took many fun adventures around the world.

He is survived by his cherished son, Maurice “Maury” DiMauro of New York City; sister, Mary Genna, of Methuen; brother, Anthony DiMauro and his wife Paula of Waltham, MA; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition, he leaves behind his former wife and mother of his beloved son Maury, Anna (Sammataro) Savinelli, as well as his long-time companion, Rose Villetta of Hallandale Beach, FL.

The family wishes to extend deep appreciation to Evelyn Cortes, his dedicated personal care attendant, the tireless staff of Lawrence General Hospital, and the many home care attendants who provided extraordinary care.
