Salvatore Scalia
March 7, 1936 ~ September 4, 2022 (age 86) 86 Years Old
Salvatore “Sam” Scalia, 86, of Seabrook, NH, peacefully passed away on September 4, 2022, at Salem Haven Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 7, 1936, he was the son of the late Giovanni “John” and Concetta (D’Agata) Scalia.
Born and raised in Lawrence, MA, Sam joined the Marines after he graduated from high school and proudly served his country while in Korea. Once home, he worked for Ford Motor Company, and spent much of his career as a machinist at Avco (Textron).
Sam loved New England sports teams, especially the Red Sox. He enjoyed bowling, pickle ball, playing pool, golfing and playing cards with friends and family. He was a great golfer and added a league championship to his name. He was a proud veteran, a devout Catholic, and an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Later in life, Sam and Barbara enjoyed spending their winters down in Stuart, FL with the many close friends they made while there.
Along with his parents, Sam is pre-deceased by his children, William DeMonaco and Timothy DeMonaco; as well as his siblings, Lena D’Agata, Stella LaSpina, Carmen Scalia, and Josephine Scalia.
Sam will be deeply missed and is survived by the love of his life, Barbara (McNulty) Scalia; children, John Scalia of Springfield, VA, Christine Bohenko and her partner Tom Shanley of Chelmsford, MA, David Scalia and his wife Charlene of Tyngsboro, MA, and Marguerite Sciuto and her husband Anthony of Methuen, MA; his grandchildren, Gregory D. Bohenko and his wife Tess, Jacob Bohenko, Johnna Scalia, David E. Scalia, Michael Scalia, and Louis Sciuto; great-granddaughter, Alexis Kennedy Bohenko; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM on Friday, September 9, 2022, at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel at 11:30 AM. Entombment will follow at St. Mary - Immaculate conception Cemetery, 29 Barker Street, Lawrence. in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
