Sally M. Lahood

Sally Marie Lahood, 80, of Haverhill passed away peacefully on January 8, 2019 at Wingate in Haverhill after a long illness.

Sally was born on February 21, 1938 in Lawrence, MA, the daughter of Lebanese immigrants, the late Abraham and Angele (Mecsas) Lahood. Following her mother’s early death at age thirty-six, Sally and her siblings were raised by her father and her beloved aunt, Eva, her father’s sister. She was educated in the Lawrence public schools and worked for many years at Western Electric and later at Lucent Technologies, where she was a member of the bowling league and the Pioneers club before retiring in 1993. Prior to her illness, Sally also volunteered at Salem Nursing Home in Salem, NH, for fifteen years. She enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and Europe but most of all she loved her fourteen nieces and nephews as well her thirty-four great-nieces and nephews. She was known as Aunt Sal to all.

Sally was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Lahood, and brother-in-law, Mitchell Keamy.

She will be sadly missed by her brother, Albert Lahood and his wife, Linda of Andover; sisters, Adeline Keamy of Methuen, and Charlotte Diharce and her husband, Eduardo of Dover, NH; sister-in-law, Sandra Lahood of Andover.

The family would like to thank the staff on C-Wing at Wingate in Haverhill for their compassionate care they provided to Sally.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sally’s memory may be made to St. Anthony Maronite Church, 145 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA 01841 or to a charity of one’s choice.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. A Christian service will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Methuen. At a later date a celebration of life will be held.
