Ruth E. Chamberlain

Ruth E. Chamberlain, 75, of Barre, MA, passed away Friday, April 3, 2020, at her home. Born in Lawrence, MA, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Ruth (Callahan) Chamberlain.

In the 1960s, Ruth moved to Ayer, MA. Being a person who has developmental disabilities she was supported by The ARC of Opportunities in Fitchburg, MA. She worked for the YMCA in Fitchburg and later at the Colonial Hotel in Gardner, MA, until retiring. She was supported by Seven Hills Family Services in Fitchburg and the GVNA Day Hab which she had the opportunity to make many friends. She attended the First Church of Princeton that she never missed a service or an opportunity to help her community. She volunteered at IHN Family Homeless Shelter, sponsored a child at Christmas and gave flowers to the church monthly. Ruth would jump at the chance to volunteer at her local food bank and local shelter kitchen. She enjoyed traveling and meeting people, shopping, animals, and Dunkin Donuts for the newest flavor.

The family will be forever grateful to her caretaker and best friend, Diane Parker.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her cousin, Penni Devlin Galle.

She is survived by her aunt, Dot Chamberlain; cousins, Richard Chamberlain, Carol Berube, Catherine King, and Richard Galle.
