Rufino Cruz

Puerto Rican native, Rufino Cruz, a father, minister, and long-term resident of Massachusetts has gone to be with the Lord on Friday, March 10, 2023. Rufino Cruz was the son of Pedro Cruz and Susana Garcia born in Naguabo, PR.

He is survived by his siblings: Lucy Heeren, Casimira Quinones, Liboria Cruz, and Jose Morales. Rufino was preceded by his siblings Roberto Cruz, Luisa Cruz, Miguel Garcia, and Julio Cruz. He had six children with his late wife of 48 years, Ana Julia. He leaves behind his sons: Edwin wife Evelyn, Wigberto wife Dina Ester, Jorge wife Karlene, Eliseo, and Samuel wife Magdaliz; his daughter, Ana husband Gabriel Berrios. He also helped raise his grandniece Nissi husband Efrain Cruz, as his own. He had eight grandchildren and was blessed with eight more through marriage and adoption. Rufino had the pleasure to be able to meet his great-grandchildren before he departed the earth. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Rufino was proud of his upbringing in the countryside and all the life lessons it brought. He dedicated his life to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and rendered all the blessings in his life to Him. Rufino didn’t just study the word of God, he lived it. He was a walking example of a dedicated servant, leader, and reverend; he was respected everywhere he went.

He was an excellent dedicated husband and father, ensuring his children grew up to achieve the highest of moral and ethical standards. He was the sweetest grandfather and used his sense of humor to build beautiful memories with his grandchildren.

In 1967, while Rufino lived in Barrio Vietnam, PR, Rufino joined the Council of Church of Jesus Christ the Good Samaritan, Inc. When he moved to Boston, MA in 1972, he continued to attend the Boston branch of the same council. In 1981, he was called to pastor the 2nd Church of Jesus Christ the Good Samaritan in Brockton, MA until 1999. In 2001, he relocated to Ocala, FL, where he assisted in starting the Church of Jesus Christ the Good Samaritan, and in 2009 he relocated back to MA, to the Merrimack area where he was a member and a leader of the 6th Church of Jesus Christ the Good Samaritan in Lawrence, MA.

We will miss Rufino’s contagious laugh, his delicious cups of coffee, his long talks about biblical studies, but most of all, we will miss his presence. We hope that we can carry his legacy with the respect that it deserves, and just as he would want, may we never stop spreading the gospel.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 3:00PM- 6:30 PM, with a funeral service following at 6:30 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen, MA. On Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 10:00AM, a prayer service will be held in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Methuen, MA.

Nacido en Puerto Rico, Rufino Cruz, padre, ministro y residente de Massachusetts partió con el Señor el 10 de marzo del 2023. Rufino Cruz era hijo de Pedro Cruz y Susana García y nació en Naguabo, PR. En vida quedan sus hermanos Lucy Heeren, Casimira Quiñones, Liboria Cruz, y José Morales.

Lo que en vida fueron sus hermanos Roberto Cruz, Luisa Cruz, Miguel García, y Julio Cruz. Tuvo seis hijos con la que en vida fuera su esposa de 48 años Ana Julia. Deja atrás a sus hijos Edwin esposa Evelyn, Wigberto esposa Dina Ester, Jorge esposa Karlene, Eliseo, y Samuel esposa Magdaliz, una hija Ana esposo Gabriel Berrios e hija de crianza, sobrina-nieta Nissi esposo Efraín Cruz. Rufino tuvo 8 nietos y fue bendecido con 8 más por medio de matrimonios y adopción. Rufino tuvo el placer de poder conocer a sus bisnietos antes de partir de la tierra. También deja atrás muchas sobrinas, sobrinos, sobrina-nietas y sobrino-nietos. Rufino estaba orgulloso de su crianza en el campo y de todas las lecciones de vida que le trajo. Dedicó su vida a su Señor y Salvador Jesucristo y a Él le dio toda la gloria. Rufino no solo estudió la palabra de Dios, la vivió. Fue un ejemplo de un servidor dedicado, líder, reverendo, y fue respetado dondequiera que iba.

Fue un excelente esposo y padre dedicado, asegurándose de que sus hijos crecieran para alcanzar los más altos estándares morales y éticos. Fue el abuelo más dulce y usó su humor para formar hermosos recuerdos con sus nietos.

En 1967, mientras Rufino vivía en el barrio Vietnam, PR, se unió al Concilio de la Iglesia de Jesucristo el Buen Samaritano Inc. Cuando se mudó a Boston, MA en 1972, continuó asistiendo a la 1ra Iglesia de Boston del mismo concilio. En 1981 fue llamado a pastorear la 2da Iglesia de Jesucristo el Buen Samaritano en Brockton, MA hasta 1999. En 2001 se mudó a Ocala, FL donde ayudó a iniciar la Iglesia de Jesucristo el Buen Samaritano, y en 2009 se mudó nuevamente a MA al área de Merrimack donde fue miembro y uno de los líderes de la 6ta Iglesia de Jesucristo el Buen Samaritano en Lawrence, MA.

Extrañaremos la risa contagiosa de Rufino, sus deliciosas tazas de café, sus largas charlas sobre estudios bíblicos, pero, sobre todo, extrañaremos su presencia. Esperamos que podamos llevar su legado con el respeto que se merece, y tal como él quisiera, que nunca dejemos de predicar el evangelio.
Se invita respetuosamente a los familiares y amigos a asistir al velorio el miércoles 15 de marzo de 2023 de 3:00pm a 6:30pm, y para el servicio de 6:30-7:30pm en Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen, MA. El jueves 16 de marzo de 2023 a las 10:00 a.m. se llevará a cabo un servicio de oración en la capilla de la funeraria y después a las 11:00am estaremos saliendo al cementerio St. Mary Immaculate Conception, Methuen, MA.
