Rose (Gioia) Perry, 99, passed away at the Nevins Nursing Home on Wednesday, January 11, 2019.
Born and raised in Lawrence, Rose was one of five children, born to the late Alessandro and Nunziata (Grillo) Gioia. She graduated from both Lawrence High School and Lawrence Regional Technical Vocational High School where she majored in culinary arts. She was a life-long member of Holy Rosary Church in Lawrence.
Rose was a remarkable cook and an exceptional dancer, which she took up at a very early age. In addition, she loved playing bingo and going to Foxwoods Casino. Rose’s biggest pleasure in life however, was spending time with her family, especially her brother, Peter.
Rose will always be remembered for being very loveable and very outgoing all her life.
Sadly, in addition to her parents, Rose was pre-deceased by her first husband Richard L. Campbell and her sibilngs, James Gioia, Ann Riel, Peter Gioia and Charles Gioia.
Rose is lovingly survived by her daughter, Shirley Gilmartin, and her husband Jim of East Hampstead, NH; her grandchildren, Jill DeCesare, Allison D’Orlando and Kevin Gilmartin; great-grandchildren, Vanessa DeCesare, Ella Rose DeCesare, Camren DeCesare, Haylie D’Orlando, Logan D’Orlando, Aria D’Orlando, Caden Gilmartin, and Thea Gilmartin.
The family would like to kindly thank the staff of Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for taking such good care of Rose during her time there.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in Corpus Christi at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex St., Lawrence at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary Immaculate- Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rose’s honor to a charity of one’s choice.
