Rose (Basile) Caruso passed away peacefully on November 30, 2018 at Mary Immaculate Nursing Home (Marguerite House) in Lawrence. She was born and raised in Lawrence by her Italian immigrant parents, Orazio and Maria Basilio.
Rose was an accomplished footwear stitcher, rising to work on specimen shoes for several Lawrence manufacturers including Cardinal Shoe.
Rose was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Sebastiano F. Caruso Rose; her brothers, John Basile and his wife, Beatrice and Tom Basile and his wife, Anne.
She is survived by her sons, Atty. Peter J. Caruso and his wife, Gayle of Andover and Robert C. Caruso and his wife, Karen of St. Petersburg, FL; her grandchildren, Atty. Peter J. Caruso, II and his wife, Mandy of Marblehead and Noah J. Caruso and his wife, Kate of Andover; her great-grandchildren, Saylor, Savannah, Saydie, Noah, and Harry; and her cousin, Samuel A. Basile of Bradford.
The family is grateful for the loving and tender care of the entire staff and pastoral services at Mary Immaculate Care Nursing Center, Marguerite House and Merrimack Hospice. Memorial contributions in Rose’s name may be made to Mary Immaculate Restorative Nursing Home, 172 Lawrence Street, Lawrence, MA 01841.
At the request of the family there will be no calling hours. A private funeral mass will be celebrated at the family’s Holy Rosary Church in Lawrence and a private burial service at the family site in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
