Tribute

Ronald Marcel LaPlume, 83, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2020, at High Pointe House in Haverhill, MA, following a brief illness.

Born and raised in Lawrence, MA, Ronald was the son of Regina and Gabriel LaPlume. He lived in Lawrence until 1987 when he moved to Methuen, MA. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, and alongside his brother, Raymond, and went on to successfully run the business his father founded, LaPlume & Sons Printing Co., Inc. He also served in the U.S. Navy from 1957-1959 on the USS Wasp.

Ronald was a man of deep faith; a fact that was apparent to all who knew him. He was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church in South Lawrence until its closing, when he joined St. Michael Church in North Andover. He was an active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Sacred Heart Parish and St. Michael Parish. He also volunteered at Sacred Heart Church in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) program. For many years, he served as an umpire for South Lawrence West Little League, an activity he truly loved. He was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) in Lawrence.

A devoted husband and father, Ronald would have celebrated fifty-nine years of marriage with his cherished wife Pauline on May 6, 2020.

His family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at Holy Family Hospital and the staff at High Pointe Hospice for the care given to Ronald.

You may be gone from this earth, but you will always remain in our hearts.
