Roland J. Soucy, 88, of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2022, at High Point Hospice House. Born on August 19, 1933, he was the son of the late Peter and Angeline (Desrosiers) Soucy. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Yvonne in 2017.
Educated in Lawrence, Roland entered the United States Army in 1953, where he proudly served his country. He went on to work for his father as a meat cutter at Pete’s Horse Meat Market, Andrew Wilson Sheet Metal Company, and for Raytheon as an expedited dispatcher. He worked for 27 years for Gillette in inventory control.
During his spare time, Roland loved to work in his garden, plant flowers, and do general work around the yard. He took great pride in his property and his grounds were always immaculate. Roland also enjoyed bowling and vacationing in Seabrook he made many wonderful friends. He enjoyed his morning breakfast at Country Kitchen with his brother-in-law, Sonny. Afterwards, he would go to Howe Street Suprette to be with his friends and play Keno. Special thanks to John the mailman for bringing the mail to his door.
Roland is survived by his brother-in-law, Wilfred “Sonny” Beliveau; his niece, Denise Gingras; as well as several other nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Vivian Gingras and her husband Leo, Theresa Gingras, Annette Soucy, and his brother-in-law, Rene Gingras.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation on Monday, June 13, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 14th in St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence Street in Methuen. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, also in Methuen.
