Roger N. Barbin, 91, of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Berkeley Nursing Center in Lawrence.
Born and raised in Lawrence, he was the son of the late Simeon and Marilda (Lafond) Barbin. A World War II veteran, Roger proudly served in the Navy while being stationed on the USS Tolman DM-28 which served as a class destroyer minelayer.
Roger worked for over thirty-five years at Raytheon in Andover; Glen L. Martin Co. in Baltimore, MD; and also at Bolton-Emerson in Lawrence. He was a man of great faith and a devout Catholic. Roger enjoyed golf, tennis, Sunday dinners, and watching the Red Sox and Patriot games with his family. Nothing brought Roger greater joy than the family being together.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Grace (Tombarello) Barbin; and his siblings, Robert, George, Norm, and Lillian Barbin.
Roger is survived by his stepson, Joseph Toscano and his wife, Jo; granddaughters, Judy Carpentier and her husband, Rob, and Jill Owen and her husband, Shawn; his four great-grandchildren, Sydney and Molly Owen, Robbie and CJ Carpentier; sisters, Elaine Chamberlain and Pauline Foley. He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, and a special thank you to his niece, Pam Barbin. The family would also like to thank the staff at Grace Morgan House and Berkeley Nursing Center for such great care during a difficult time.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral mass on Thursday, April 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Lucy Church, 254 Merrimack St., Methuen. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roger’s memory may be made to American Diabetes Association, MA Chapter, 260 Cochituate Rd., Suite 200, Framingham, MA 01701.
