Rod Hendrigan
July 26, 1950 ~ April 17, 2021 (age 70) 70 Years Old
Roderick A. Hendrigan, 70, of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully April 17, 2021, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Boston, MA, and raised in Arlington, MA to the late Francis and M. Dorothy (Cronin) Hendrigan and later moved to Methuen. In 1974, he entered The Massachusetts State Police Academy and graduated from NorthEastern University in 1980 with a Masters in Criminal Justice.
A proud member of the Massachusetts State Police for thirty-three years, Rod served in many different roles. During his tenure he served as a homicide detective for ten years out of the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office and he was the head of the Department of Transportation for many years. He made his way through the ranks during his career and retired as a Lieutenant in 2006.
Rod loved his family more than anything and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved to travel, which included several trips to Ireland, and spent the winter months in Clearwater, FL. One of his greatest passions was the game of golf where he was a member of the Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover for many years. Rod was also a longtime and proud member of the Lawrence British Club where enjoyed spending time with friends and sharing a good laugh. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rod is survived by his daughter, Kerra Crafts and her husband Michael of Londonderry, NH; his son, Ross Hendrigan and his wife Christina of Sandown, NH; his grandchildren, Andrew and Owen Crafts, Riley and Natalie Hendrigan; former wife and best friend, Joanne Hendrigan; sister, Nancy Hendrigan; brother, Gary Hendrigan, and his wife Dianne Hendrigan; and sister-in-law, Denise Hendrigan; longtime companion, Ruth Cordima; as well as his niece, Aimee Hendrigan and nephew, Tyler Hendrigan. He was predeceased by his brother, Francis Hendrigan
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, April 22, 2021, from 4:00 PM–7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 23, 2021, at St. Theresa Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, 22 Plymouth Street in Methuen. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Manchester, NH.
