Robert G. “Bob” Pitocchelli, Sr., age 92, of Methuen, MA, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020, in the comfort of his home.

He was predeceased by his childhood love, the late Rosemarie (Rossi) Pitocchelli; his son, Gregory Pitocchelli; and grandson, Sonny.

He leaves behind his daughters, Debbie Pitocchelli and Rosalyn Perea; sons, Robert Pitocchelli, Jr., and Joseph Pitocchelli; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bob retired from the Laborers’ Local Union #609 and then took up his hobby of scrap metal recovery full time, driving his truck until the age of 85. After his retirement, he and his wife Rosie became owners of thoroughbred race horses at Rockingham Park. He was revered for his gambling skills – especially 45s, which he played until the age of 92.

With an adventurous spirit, Bob loved to pack up Rosie and the five kids in the Dodge station wagon for road trips to the Mohawk Trail, upstate New York, mushroom picking in the White Mountains, and all day picnics at Kingston State Park and Duncan Beach. You could also find him at Revere Beach riding the amusements all day. The family back yard held many memorable events, parties, and most of all Bocce tournaments.

Bob’s family would like to thank the teams from the Bedford VA, Associated Home Care, Gladyis, Alba, Yelenny, Joanny, the All Care VNA nurses and his personal companion/driver, Jody Travers. Their combined support made it possible to keep him home, where he passed away peacefully with a smile on his face.

He was loved by all who knew him and will be sadly missed by his family. Rest in peace Papa Petey.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral mass being celebrated for Bob at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at St. Lucy Church, 254 Merrimack Street, Methuen. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
