Rita A. Lonardo, 90, of Methuen, MA, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA. Born in Lawrence, MA, she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Cleonice (Rozzi) Lonardo.
Raised and educated in Lawrence, Rita attended Holy Rosary School and graduated from Lawrence High School. She was a graduate of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing. She continued her education with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from St. Anselm College and a Master of Science Degree in Nursing Administration from Boston University. Rita dedicated herself to nursing and even after retiring she continued to serve on a volunteer basis well into her eighties.
In her free time, Rita enjoyed reading, watching old movies, and spending as much time as possible with her loved ones and her many friends. She was a devout Catholic and an active and avid parishioner of Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church in Lawrence.
Rita was predeceased by her siblings, Vincent J. Lonardo and Paul L. Lonardo.
She is survived by her three nieces, Elaine Holland and her husband, Joseph, Rosemary L. Walsh and her husband, Randy, and Rita M. Lonardo and her husband, Steven Roy. In addition, she will also be missed by many cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Due to the current situation of the Coronavirus and concern for everyone’s safety, the family has respectfully decided to have a private service at this time.
