Richard W. Young, Sr.

Richard W. “Dick” Young, Sr., 84, of Seabrook, NH, formerly of Methuen, MA, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Methuen. Born in Lawrence, MA, he was the son of the late Harry and Yvonne (Doucette) Young.

Raised and educated in Lawrence, Richard was a graduate of Lawrence High School. He worked for over forty-four years as a machinist at Lawrence Pumps, Inc. He was a former member of the Lawrence Elks Lodge and was an avid Red Sox fan. He loved the outdoors, especially working in his vegetable garden and keeping his yard cut and clean. He also served in the Army National Guard and was known for his witty sense of humor.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of sixty years, Roberta (Hewett) Young.

Richard is survived by his son, Richard W. Young, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Methuen; brothers, Harry Young and his wife Pauline of South Carolina and Thomas Young and his wife Phyllis of Florida; grandchildren, Jeffrey Young and his wife Michelle of Methuen, Samantha Walsh and her husband Erik of Salem, NH, and Ashley Lambert of Methuen; great-grandchildren, Liam, Jayden, Bryanna, Elliana, Mackenna, and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his beloved dog, Missy.

At the request of the family, all services will be private. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. Richard loved animals and the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MSPCA, Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
