Rachana “Thaup” Srey, 29, of Lowell, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 26, 2020. He was born in Lowell, on March 14, 1991 to Maly Noung and Srey Eng.
Raised and educated in Lowell, Rachana enjoyed being active, especially outdoors to hike or go on long walks, watching sports, and having intellectual conversations. Most importantly, he liked to spend as much time as possible with his loved ones.
A friend to literally hundreds, Thaup enjoyed sharing laughs and good times with each and every one of them. His smile was infectious and lit up the room. He was the life of every party and was always so generous beyond means.
Thaup was a selfless and devoted son, brother, and uncle who always placed family and friends above all else. He will be remembered as one of the good guys – a humble man, a family man, a kind and brave man, never forgetful of his roots. He enjoyed living a simple life, but anyone who sat in his presence would tell you that there was always a life lesson to be learned there. It is through those lessons and tremendous love that Thaup’s memory will live on in those who had the privilege of knowing him.
He leaves behind his parents, Maly Noung and Srey Eng; cherished siblings, Chanthra Srey, Chanthrea Srey, Chanthy Hak, and Socheath Srey-Yang; loving nephews/nieces, Hiro Srey-Yang, Kairo Srey-Yang, Alicia Cabrera, Lily Houth, and Kaden Houth.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, November 1, 2020, from 6:00-9:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. The family respectfully requests that all attendees follow current Covid-19 guidance, including face coverings and social distancing.
