Phyllis Twiraga

Phyllis (Polizoti) Twiraga, 83, of Methuen passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Mary Immaculate Health Care in Lawrence.  Born in Cleveland, OH, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Helen Polizoti.

A graduate of Methuen High School, class of 1954, Phyllis graduated from M. Fazio Institute of Beauty Culture in 1961, and also completed courses in effective business speaking, and took education courses at Fitchburg State College.  She worked as a hairdresser and cosmetologist and was a director and instructor at Labaron Hairdressing Academy.  In1978, she was appointed administrative assistant to the mayor of Lawrence, and in 1979, she was a commissioner of Senior Citizen Activities. Phyllis enjoyed knitting, reading and occasional visits to Foxwoods Casino.

She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Twiraga.

Phyllis is survived by her brothers, Leo Polizoti and his wife Kathy of Sturbridge, MA, and Michael Polizoti of Methuen; nieces, Laura Polizoti of Sturbridge, and Leslie Polizoti of South Africa; and her nephew, Geoffrey Polizoti of Florida.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 6:00-7:30 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen.  Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at St. Lucy Church, 254 Merrimack Street in Methuen.  Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association.
