Peter Merlini

ASHBY, MA – Peter Merlini, 62, of Ashby, and formerly of Methuen, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Sebastian and Guiseppa (Cavallaro) Merlini.

Born in Catania, Sicily, Peter attended the Methuen School system, graduating from Methuen High School.

Peter was social and outgoing by nature, he could light up a room as he entered. He was most happy to make those around him smile and laugh. He enjoyed any opportunity to gather socially with his family and friends as spending his time with people was what warmed his heart most. Some of his favorite memories are of times dancing, fishing, and duck hunting. He will be remembered most of all for his great sense of humor.

Peter will be greatly missed by his sister, Anna M. DiMattia and her husband Brian of Ashby; his niece, Brianna DiMattia and her fiancé Nick Mirenda; nephew, Joseph DiMattia; and his best friend, Stephen Seplow, Jr. of Boxford, MA.

In lieu of flowers donations in Peter’s memory, may be made to MSPCA, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation between 4:00–8:00 PM on Monday, April 26, 2021, at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at St. Lucy Church, 254 Merrimack Street, Methuen. Interment will follow in St. Mary–Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
