Peter J. DeFrancesco, 91, of Plaistow, NH passed into the eternal gates of heaven on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lawrence and was the son of the late Michael and Alessandra (Stabile) DeFrancesco.
Peter was raised and educated in Lawrence. He worked for the D.P.W. for the City of Lawrence and later worked at Savastano’s Catering of Lawrence. He was a WWII and Korean Conflict veteran and served proudly with the U.S. Army and then the U.S. Navy.
Family was everything to him. He loved and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Merrimack Valley Hospice for their outstanding care and dedication.
Peter is survived by his loving wife, Helen (Calvagna) DeFrancesco; daughter, Sandra Flanagan of Methuen; grandchildren, Peter Flanagan and his wife Allison of Plaistow, NH, Joshua Flanagan and his wife Danielle of Methuen, Nicholas Flanagan and his wife Ashley of Danville, NH and Cassandra Flanagan of Methuen; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Peyton Flanagan of Plaistow, NH, Delaney and Lucas Flanagan of Methuen and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at St. Lucy’s Church, 254 Merrimack St., Methuen. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.
