Paul Francis McCarthy, 79, of Methuen, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 in North Carolina with his family by his side.
Born and raised in Malden, Paul was one of two siblings, born to the late John and Margaret (McEnroe) McCarthy. He received his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from North Eastern University in Boston, and worked for many years as an electrical engineer for General Electric.
Paul was a very athletic individual; he was a black belt in karate and went to the gym four to six times a week. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Patriots. He also enjoyed traveling, and his favorite vacation spot was Italy. Paul was a kind, extremely knowledgeable man, who would help anyone who needed a hand.
Sadly, in addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother, Robert McCarthy.
Paul is lovingly survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Mary McCarthy; children, Christine McCarthy of Williston, VT and Paul McCarthy of Haverhill, MA; his brother, John McCarthy and his wife, Dottie of North Hampton, NH; as well as a niece and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM in the funeral home at the conclusion of calling hours.
