Pasquale “Pat” Licciardi, 87, of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 2, 2020. He was the husband of the late Mary A. (Musumeci) Licciardi with whom he shared fifty- seven wonderful years in marriage.
Born in Lawrence, the son of the late Giovanni and Annie (Buco) Licciardi, Pat graduated from Lawrence High in 1952. Soon after, he enlisted into the United States Air Force, serving four years and spending two of those years in Japan until his honorable discharge in 1957. Shortly after he returned home, he settled in Lawrence and began working for the Internal Revenue Service, where he worked until his retirement, meeting many great people along the way. He also proudly served on the Board of Directors for the NESC Federal Credit Union for many years.
Pat married his sweetheart, Mary, in 1957 and the couple first settled in Lawrence. In 1965 they decided to relocate to a new home in Methuen, giving more space to their family. A truly dedicated family man, Pat always enjoyed spending time with them, seeing their accomplishments, activities and interests. He had a big heart and was a friend to all, always wanting to lend a helping hand. In his free time, Pat enjoyed working in his yard, sharing many wonderful meals with his family and friends, long bike rides at Hampton Beach, and traveling. Always interested in learning about history and different cultures, he loved his travels to Europe, especially his extended stays in Italy. Having the pleasure of enjoying a long retirement, he most cherished his time with his wife and lovingly took care of all his grandchildren in whatever way they needed. He loved feeding them, playing the card game 45s with them and he especially loved how his house served as the place for all to gather and spend special family time. Together, with his family, Pat created many lasting memories that his children hold close to their heart.
Pat was predeceased by his granddaughter, Lauren Mary Licciardi; sisters, Helen Lucchesi and her husband Jerome, Josephine Desimone and her husband Pat, Petrina Battiato and her husband Carl.
He is survived by his children: Michael J. Licciardi and his wife Sheila of Methuen, Paul T. Licciardi and his wife Janet of Haverhill, MA, Patricia M. DiPrima of Salem, NH; grandchildren: Michael, Nicholas, and Jamie Licciardi, Deanna and Danielle DiPrima and their father Mark DiPrima; his twin brother, John and his wife Lucy of North Andover, MA; his sister-in-law, Louise Ferris of Seabrook, NH; cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
Honoring Pat’s wishes, his family held services in private under the direction of Cataudella Funeral Home in Methuen. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Pat’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
