Norman G. Rainville, Jr.

Norman G. Rainville, Jr., 83, of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Bear Mountain at Andover, MA. He was the beloved husband of Geraldine “Gerry” (Monahan) Rainville.

Born and raised in Lawrence, son of the late Marie (Valcourt) and Norman Rainville, Sr., Norman was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, class of 1956, following which he enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1960. Upon his return, he went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Lowell Technological Institute. Soon after, he began working for what is today Lucent Technology, and did so until his retirement in 2001.

An avid sports fan, Norman was sure to watch all of the New England Sports Teams, cheering them on along the way. He was most happy when surrounded by his family and friends, enjoying the many great memories made along the way. Most cherished were the memories made with his family, especially during the holidays, or when going sailing together. An avid sailor, Norman loved spending time on his boat, and inviting as many as could join him, as they ventured to his favorite destination, Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard.

In addition to his parents, Norman was predeceased by his daughter, Pamela Barbour.

He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his wife, Gerry; children, Deborah Lehman of Alexandria, VA, Patricia Campano of Greenland, NH, Nicole Rainville and her fiancé Sean Daves of Methuen; grandchildren, Lauren Barbour, Justin Barbour, Alexandra Lehman, Caroline Campano, Chad Campano; siblings, Jeanne Marie Burton of Lawrence, MA, Paula Varcoe and her husband Paul of Chocowinity, NC; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation on Monday, April 11, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Interment will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
