Norman Lister, 87, a lifelong resident of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2020, after a period of declining health. He was the husband of the late Janice M. (Brochu) Lister, sharing 56 wonderful years in marriage.
Raised and educated in Methuen, Norman was a graduate of Methuen High School, class of 1950, after which he received an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1953 and proudly served and defended his country during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1954. Norman resumed work as an electrical engineer until his retirement from Raytheon.
After Norman and Janice married in 1961, they settled in Methuen. He was often found making repairs and staying on top of maintenance to make sure their family was safe and comfortable. When not at work, he spent his time with family and created special memories on vacations to York Beach and his trips to Hawaii, Florida, and Las Vegas. He also enjoyed time at the shooting range, and in recent years, watching the birds at the Bedford VA Hospital.
Norman’s family would like to thank the Bedford VA Hospital for the attentive care they provided him.
In addition to his wife Janice, Norman was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Webb.
He is survived by his children, Mark Lister and his wife Allison of Pelham, NH, Scott Lister and his wife Gina of Hudson, NH, Laurie-Ann Branchaud and her husband Stan Araszkiewicz of Dracut, MA; grandchildren, Ryan Brandchaud, Nicole, Brittanie, Cameron, Rachel, and Adam Lister; great-grandchildren, Emilee and Theodore Lister; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visitation between 2:00–5:00 PM on Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norman’s memory to Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 374, Lawrence, MA 01842.
