Nicolina A. Catalano

Nicolina A.“Nickie” Catalano, 95, of Lawrence, MA, passed away on September 7, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Angelina (Messina) Catalano.

She attended John Breen Grammar School and Lawrence High School, class of 1945, and also MacIntosh Business School.

Before her marriage, she worked in her family's restaurant, The Merrimack Restaurant, and later worked for a local attorney. During her marriage, she worked in her husband's family business, Catalano's Market.

Nicolina, her husband Joseph, and their children enjoyed their summers on Seabrook Beach, NH. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband over the years to many beautiful places.

Her husband predeceased her after 67 years of marriage. She is a member of the Holy Rosary Shrine and St Rita's Sodality.

Nicolina is survived by her daughters, Sara Bruce and her husband Norman of Methuen and Angela Ciofolo and her husband Anthony of Lawrence; son, Sam Catalano and fiancé Oleyda Polanco, both of Seabrook NH; beloved grandchildren, Mary Ann Bruce and husband Sam Chu, Samantha Catalano, Joseph Catalano, and Benton Catalano; and also great-grandchildren, Faith Catalano and Brandon Chu; as well as many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Katherine DeBurro.

She is predeceased by her four sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna Cottone and her husband Dominick, Laura Scalisi and her husband Anthony, Tina Scalese and her husband Santo, and Mary Parisi and husband Rosario, and brother-in-laws Nick Catalano and Gilbert DeBurro as well as sister-in-law Rose Catalano.

The family would also like to thank Sharon Johnson for her care and compassion.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, September 16, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Holy Rosary Shrine, 35 Essex St., Lawrence. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence.
