Mollie M. Gueli

Mollie M. (Martone) Gueli, 97, of Methuen, MA, passed away May 26, 2020, at her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late Decoroso and Rocca (DiFruscia) Martone.

A graduate of Lawrence High School class of 1940 and St. John’s School of Nursing class of 1945, Mollie was a cadet nurse during World War II. She worked at the Chelsea Naval Hospital and later as a nurse in local hospitals and doctor offices. She also participated in the nurse’s health study at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital for twenty-five years.

Mollie was a member of the Lawrence High School Alumnae Association, Nursing Alumnae Association, Mary Cadet Corps, and St. Monica Parish in Methuen.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael Gueli and her brothers, Louie, Anthony, John, and Dino Martone, and her sister, Lila Lovino.

Mollie is survived by her son, Michael Gueli, Jr. and his companion Janice Fugge of Methuen; grandson, Michael Gueli, III of Methuen; and her great-grandson, Michael Gueli, IV of South Carolina. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral mass at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 1, 2020 at St. Monica’s Church, 212 Lawrence St. Methuen. There will be no public visiting hours. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to St. Monica’s Parish, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA 01844.
