Mildred P. (Leroy) Musumeci, age 84, of Merrimac, MA, passed away peacefully in the company of her family on Thursday, November 19, 2020, after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Salvatore D. Musumeci.
Daughter of the late Stuart C. and Agatha (Howard) Leroy, Mildred was born and raised in Worcester, MA, and graduated from the Worcester School System. For many years, she and Salvatore owned and operated Susan’s Luncheonette in Lawrence, MA.
In 1962, Mildred exchanged vows with her sweetheart, Salvatore, and soon after, they settled in the Merrimack Valley area. The couple loved to share the story of how they first met, while both working in restaurants at Salisbury Beach. This is something that they began to enjoy doing together shortly after their marriage as they were the proud owner/operators of Susan’s Luncheonette on Merrimack Street in Lawrence.
After the loss of her husband, Mildred enjoyed time with friends, especially when they traveled, including their cruise on the Queen Elizabeth II. Over the years, she was an active member of the Church of the Nativity in Merrimac. More than anything, she loved her grandchildren and was always there for them and eager to spend time with them, at times simply when being there to care for them.
In addition to her husband, Salvatore, Mildred was predeceased by her brother, George Leroy, and his wife, Constance.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Mostyn and her husband Keith of Merrimac, MA; granddaughters, Constance Milburn and her husband Ian of Peabody, MA, and Alyssa Mostyn of Merrimac, MA; and one brother, Stuart Leroy, Jr. and his wife Susan of Holden, MA.
At the family’s request, all services will be held privately. Interment will in the family lot in Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mildred’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
