Michael J. Polizoti, 74, of Methuen, MA passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. He was born on February 5, 1945 to the late Leo and Helen Polizoti.
Raised in Methuen, he lived there for all of his life and attended Tenney High School. Michael went on to work in the mail room at Raytheon Corp. and later took on the role of being a caretaker to his parents. His life mostly revolved around basketball, baseball and he also played football. At one point he was scouted for the Red Sox farm team. Mike coached girl's and boy's basketball in Methuen for over twenty-five years and was involved in Little League baseball. He enjoyed going to Rockingham Park to bet on the horse races but rarely bet more than two dollars. Obviously not a big gambler!
Mike was very well-liked and very funny, which was a great part of his personality.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased two months prior by his sister, Phyllis (Polizoti) Twiraga.
Michael is survived by his brother, Leo Polizoti and his wife, Kathy of Sturbridge; two nieces and a nephew, Leslie Polizoti of Africa, Laura Polizoti of Sturbridge, and Geoff Polizoti and his wife, Cheryl and their two children, Micah and Cora of St. Petersburg, FL.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 from 10:00-12:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A brief funeral service will follow at 12:00 Noon in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s memory may be made to the Little League baseball in Methuen.
