Michael Kurps, 64, of Methuen passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He was born in Boston and was the son of the late Peter and Ellen (Anthes) Kurps.
Michael was raised and educated in Brookline, MA and moved to Methuen in the early 1970s. He worked for Fram Auto Body in Methuen and then opened his own business, M&M Auto Body, in Methuen. After retiring, he worked as an appraiser for Rand Adjustments. He was an avid fisherman and loved deep-sea fishing and hunting with his sons. He was a very caring person always helping his neighbors and friends. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren and family.
Michael was predeceased by his siblings, Brigitta Flavin, Wallace and Heinz Kurps.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah A. (Cubelli) Kurps; children, Michael A. Kurps and his wife, Melissa of Danville, NH, Christopher P. Kurps of Plaistow, NH and Jennifer Hamlett and her husband, Jeffrey of Haverhill; brothers, Helmut Anthes and his wife, Ingrid of Germany and Stanley Kurps and his wife, Karen of Tewksbury; sister, Caroline Kurps of Roslindale; and his grandchildren, Michaela, Makenzie, Wyatt, and Jaxson. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
