Tribute

Matthew Goulet of Derry, NH, formerly of Windham, NH and Lawrence, MA.

It is with much sadness we announce the passing of Matt Goulet on March 30, 2019. Matt passed away just a week shy of his 47th birthday in Atlanta, GA while returning home from a business trip.

Known fondly by friends and family as “Matty,” he was born on April 7, 1972 in Lawrence. He was the son of Fern Goulet and the late Joseph Goulet.

Matty married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Finn, and they share twenty-four happy years together. Since 1989, it’s always been “Matty and Kath.” They raised a son, Aaron (16 years old) and daughter, Meghan (15 years old) who followed in their father’s footsteps and are currently attending and playing sports for Central Catholic High School.

Matty was a Central Catholic High School graduate - the class of 1990, where he developed a passion and talent for football and basketball.  In his senior year under the guidance of Coach A, his team, the Raiders played in the Superbowl at Foxboro Stadium. Matty was inducted into the Central Catholic Hall of Fame in 2018. He would go on to wear maroon and gold at Boston College where he played football as a defensive tackle under coach, Tom Coughlin. His BC Eagle team played in two New Year's Day bowl games and finished with a top 20 national rank. He graduated from Boston College and Carroll School of Management with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Marketing.

After college, Matt helped create and manage the audio/video division at Avnet Technology. He then became Vice President of Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Sales and Operations for Kaspersky Lab. During his tenure at Kaspersky, he built and led Kaspersky Lab’s North America sales organization from the ground up.

In 2016, Matt became Chief Executive Officer and President of GlobalSCAPE, Inc., a cyber security and software development company based in San Antonio, TX. He previously served as GlobalSCAPE's Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing. Matt was responsible for the company’s global marketing initiatives. Robert Alpert, Chairman of GlobalSCAPE's Board of Directors and Interim CEO states, "Matt was an extraordinary person and a dynamic leader. He made vast contributions to our business.”

Matt served on the Board of Directors of New England Hoops Academy, a non-profit based in Lawrence, MA, focused on serving underprivileged youth in the inner city. Their mission is to develop well-rounded student-athletes, using the motto “Beyond Basketball” to teach students hard work, determination, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

In his spare time, Matty enjoyed spending time with family and friends on Big Island Pond. He loved the lake and the times he spent on it in his boat or in it with the kids. He hosted pig roasts and barbeques where he would cook his world-famous ribs and cheer for his favorite sports teams surrounded by loved ones. With Matty every occasion was a party! Matt and Kathy opened their house to countless friends, theirs as well as Aaron and Meghan’s. He loved having a house full!

He is survived by his wife and partner, Kathleen; son, Aaron; and daughter Meghan; his mother Fern; siblings, David, Stephen, Nancy, Lisa, Mark, and Thomas; all of the Finn clan; and his friend Sean Finneran; and many more.

Matty will be dearly missed by his family, friends, coworkers and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
