Mary Frances Sambuco
January 6, 1928 ~ October 2, 2018 (age 90) 90 Years Old
Mary Frances Sambuco, 90, of North Andover, passed away at Lawrence General Hospital on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Born and raised in the North-End of Boston, Mary was one of five sisters, born to the late Domenic and Angelina Pizzano. She was educated in Boston public schools and received her high school diploma. After graduating, Mary met a young man named Frank Sambuco from the West-End. From there, it was love at first sight. They married in 1947 at the ages of 19 and 20 years old, at St. Leonard’s Church in the North-End. Mary and Frank moved outside the city where they made their home, and raised six children together. In 1964, Mary and the family moved to Andover where she became a devoted member of St. Augustine Church, donating to their cause every month to this day.
An avid seamstress, Mary loved to make clothes and prom dresses for family and friends. She was an amazing cook and loved to bake all the time. Holidays in particular, were her favorite time to cook. She entertained at the home for every occasion and never had an empty household. Mary was gifted with decorating and took it upon herself to paint every room in her house. She also painted buoys for her husband’s commercial fishing, and enjoyed traveling to Florida for the past thirty years where she was a member of the Italian American Club in Cape Coral. She liked keeping up with current events and would always read articles and newspapers whenever she could. Mary’s favorite hobby of all was dancing. She and Frank would go ballroom dancing at local events such as at the Methuen Senior Center. Mary will always be remembered for being a hard worker and someone who never complained about anything. She was truly a peach and will be missed by everyone.
Mary is lovingly survived by her husband of seventy years, Frank James Sambuco of North Andover; sons, Frank Sambuco and his wife Virginia of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Thomas Sambuco and his wife Kathleen of Andover, Andrew Sambuco and his wife Kathleen of Melrose, and Richard Sambuco and his wife Pamela of Andover; daughters, Christine Ouellette and her husband James of Fall River, and Maureen McCarthy of Methuen; Grandma to Elizabeth, Matthew, Valerie, Andrew, Alexander, Julia, and Jeffrey; great-grandchildren, Emma and Grace; as well as many loveable nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex St., Andover. Entombment will be in St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Mausoleum, Lawrence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mary’s memory to the Lazarus House, P.O. Box 408, Lawrence, MA 01842.
