Mary J. Dube

April 22, 1929 ~ June 16, 2021 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Tribute

Mary J. Dube, 92, a longtime resident of Methuen, MA and formerly of Lawrence, MA, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Edward E. Dube, with whom she shared fifty-eight wonderful years in marriage.

The daughter of the late Alfio and Venera (DiPaola) DiPaola, Mary was born in the Bronx, NY. As a young girl, her family relocated to Lawrence, MA, where she attended school and graduated from Lawrence High School. As she entered into the workforce, Mary began working as a clerk and after her retirement from Raytheon, Mary kept busy volunteering at the American Red Cross doing blood drives, and with Methuen Festival of trees.

Mary was predeceased by her siblings, Phillip DiPaola, Charles DiPaola, Freida Pappalardo, and Melli Dome.

She is survived by her four sons, Edward Dube and his wife Lynne of Haverhill, MA, Ernest Dube of Methuen, MA, George Dube and his wife Pamela of Amesbury, MA, and John Dube and his wife Phyllis of Methuen, MA; grandchildren, Rebecca, Rachael, James, A.J., Erika, Kristi, and Teresa; great-grandchildren, Julian, Adrian, Francesca, and Bentley; dear niece, Maria; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Shortly into their marriage, Edward and Mary settled in Lawrence where they began their family. In 1974, they moved to Methuen. There, they created a warm and loving home for their boys. Over the years, they held many fun gatherings for their family and friends. Christmas time was without doubt Mary’s favorite time of year. Her boys grew to look forward to some of the family traditions that she created, especially arranging their manger.

Mary was at her happiest surrounded by her boys and later on by her boys' families. She loved hosting family gatherings during holidays. In her free time, Mary enjoyed gardening, cooking, dancing, and spending time at Salisbury Beach and at Daytona Beach. She also found great joy in sharing her childhood memories with her family, such as recounting her experience of her first job, as a child, working at A. DiPaola and Sons Poultry Company, who enjoyed having her help pluck the feathers off the chickens, which she was extremely good at due to her small hands.

A devout Catholic, Mary was a longtime parishioner at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church and was a member of the St. Rita’s of Sodality.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to Corpus Christi Parish, 35 Essex Street, Lawrence, MA 01840.
