Mary B. Corsaro

February 23, 1926 ~ February 7, 2024 (age 97) 97 Years Old

Mary Barbara (Pappalardo) Corsaro, 97, of Haverhill, MA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on February 23, 1926, during Calvin Coolidge’s presidency, Prohibition, and before the Great Depression. She lived to see seventeen different presidents.

The daughter of Sicilian immigrants, Guiseppe and Rosaria (Toscano) Pappalardo, Mary was the second youngest of seven children, growing up on Newbury Street in Lawrence, MA, with her siblings: Natale (Nap), Joseph, Carmela (Carmie), Angela (Angie Polizzotti), Agatha (Ida Cocchiaro), and Frank. She and her sisters were very close and were known as “The Four Roses” all their lives.

Mary attended Holy Rosary School and Lawrence High School where she excelled in art. She worked at Marum’s Mills in Lawrence. There, she saw a newspaper clipping posted of a local soldier receiving a Bronze Star Medal.  She grew tired of seeing the soldier’s face every day on the mill’s bulletin board, so she took the clipping down.  That soldier later became her husband of forty-nine years, Frank Corsaro, who died in 1998.

Frank and Mary lived in Lawrence and later in Methuen. She loved dancing, Salisbury Beach, and most of all, her entire extended family. She was an amazing cook and opened her home every Sunday to share lots of laughs and delicious pasta dinners with them.

Mary is survived by her children: Carmen Corsaro and his wife, Patricia: Constance Tatarczuk and her husband, Richard; Sara Corsaro-Parent and her husband, Mark; as well as daughter in law, Sheila, wife of the late Joseph Corsaro. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Candis Corsaro, Ryan Corsaro, Becky Tomlinson, Carine Corsaro, Kristen Burbank, Jessica Sampson, Craig Corsaro, Austin Parent and Molly Parent. She lived to meet seven great-grandchildren: Silas Robinson, Lucian Robinson, Nathan Burbank, Elizabeth Tomlinson, Clara Sampson, Ethan Robinson and Loretta Corsaro. She also leaves many beloved nieces and nephews.

The Corsaro family would like to thank the staff of Aspen Hill in Haverhill for their exceptional care of Mary.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452 or online at www.alz.org.
