Mary A. Viti, 90, of Methuen, passed away at The Residence at Salem Woods in Salem, NH on Monday, July 1, 2019. On Sunday, her nieces and nephews held her 91st birthday party a few days early so all were able to attend.
Born and raised in Lawrence, Mary was one of five siblings, born to the late Delfo and Ida (Girgente) Zappala.
Mary was married to love of her life for 56 years, the late Alfred ‘Fred’ Viti. She loved spending time with her entire family, especially on the holidays. Mary also liked going to Salisbury Beach where she played forty-fives with everyone. She loved going to Foxwoods and playing poker at Salem Woods where she lived. In addition, she enjoyed her weekly bingo games and in recent years, her scratch tickets.
Mary will always be remembered for her upbeat personality. She was always friendly and cheerful. She was a pleasure to be around and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Mary was pre-deceased by her siblings, Grace DeParis, Josephine Elia, and Alfred Zappala, and his surviving wife Mary of Groveland.
Mary is lovingly survived by her brother, Joseph Zappala, and his wife Carroll of California; several nieces and nephews, including her great-great nephew and great-great niece.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a committal service at her place of rest on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 4:00 PM in Eternal Light Mausoleum, 23 Pond Street in Salem, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s honor to the Women’s Resource Center, 107 Winter Street, Haverhill, MA 01830.
