Maru A. Cuticchia

Maru Cuticchia, 86, of Methuen, MA, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at Nevins Nursing and Rehab Center. She was one of eight children born to Alfio and Mary (Lavenia) D’Urso and the wife of the late Leo J. Cuticchia.

Born, raised, and educated in Lawrence, MA, Maru also worked in the local mills as a young adult. Once married, she and her husband raised their family in Methuen and she became the consummate entertainer hosting Friday night card games and cooking up delicious meals for big family gatherings on Sundays. Maru’s children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she thoroughly enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible. She delighted in completing puzzles, enjoyed trips to Florida for some rest and relaxation, and also her Friday night card games. A dedicated parishioner of Holy Rosary Church in Lawrence, she was also a member of its St. Rita Sodality.

Maru was predeceased by her husband, Leo J. Cuticchia; brothers, Nino D’Urso, Salvatore D’Urso, and Alexander D’Urso; sister, Nancy Vera; and sister-in-law, Carol D’Urso.

She is survived by her children, Leo and Vincent Cuticchia, both of Methuen, and Carla and her husband Alan Renny of Salem, NH; her siblings and their wives, Connie D’Urso-Gilbert and her partner, Edward Gold of Lawrence, Alfred D’Urso and his wife, Joan of Vero Beach, FL, Charlie D’Urso and his wife, Beverly of Wells, ME, sister-in-law, June D’Urso of Methuen and sister-in-law, Lilia D’Urso of Sarasota, FL. She also leaves her grandchildren, Kaila, Stefani, Emilie, and Derek Cuticchia, their mother, Michelle Forsyth, Makayla McMillian Cuticchia, and Amanda Renny; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend calling hours from 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday, July 24, 2020, at Cataudella Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place immediately following at 11:30 AM at Belleveue Cemetery in Methuen.
