Tribute

Mrs. Martha (Boutselis) Ouellette, 90, a lifelong resident of the Merrimack Valley, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 26, 2019, at D’Youville Life & Wellness in Lowell, MA.

Martha was born in Lowell, the daughter of the late George and Mary (Katsakous) Boutselis, who emigrated from Greece in the early 1900s. She was the youngest of six children.

Raised and educated in Lowell, Martha graduated from Lowell High School. As a young woman she was employed by Pollards Department Store as a buyer, and later at Western Electric in North Andover. In 1951, she married George Ouellette Jr. of Lawrence. They lived in Methuen, MA for twenty years and in 1977 they moved to Sebastian, FL, returning to Cobbetts Pond in Windham, NH during the summers. Martha was predeceased by her husband George in 1984 after thirty-three years of marriage. She remained in Florida where she worked for Hale Fruit Groves until she retired in 1993. In 2004, due to the destruction of hurricane Jean, she returned to Methuen.

Martha was a beautiful woman of dignity and grace who touched the lives of everyone she knew. A loving wife and mother she took great pride in her family, each of whom were blessed by her steadfast and unconditional love. She was known for her giving and selfless ways, always putting the needs of others before her own. She had strong and abiding faith and was devoted to the Holy Rosary. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family.

She is survived by her beloved children, Karen Kroeter of Windham, NH, Deborah Muise and husband Frank of Lowell, Keith Ouellette and wife Leslie of Malabar, FL; and her cherished granddaughter, Jennifer Sabbagh and fiancé James Peirce, and his children Jacqueline and Riley of Chelmsford, MA. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband George, Martha was predeceased by her son, Robert Ouellette in 1982; her grandson, Thomas Sabbagh, Jr. in 1995; her son-in-law, Paul Kroeter in 2012; all five of her beloved siblings, Pauline Guerin, Alexander Boutselis, and Catherine Costos, of Lowell, Dr. John Boutselis of Columbus, OH, and Stella Beaulieu of Clovis, NM.

Martha’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to D’Youville Life & Wellness Community for the loving and compassionate care received by all from management, to Mission & Values, reception, housekeeping, facilities, dining personnel, chaplains, volunteers, and most especially the nurses, CNAs and Activities personnel on the Commodore Unit, where she resided since 2011.
